Where to Read The Remarried Empress: Novel & English Comics

By Published Updated

Spoiler level: None. This guide focuses on official reading options, editions, and formats without discussing story developments.

Looking for The Remarried Empress in English?

For an English digital comic, start with the official WEBTOON. For English printed comics, look for the Ize Press volumes.

Those are illustrated adaptations. Alphatart’s original is a Korean prose web novel on Naver Series, so an English book with this title isn’t necessarily a translation of the novel.

If you specifically want English prose, check that format’s availability separately. YONDER, which previously carried the English prose version, closed in 2025. The English-novel section below explains the former edition and how to check whether another service is licensed.

The table gives you the starting options; the sections that follow explain the different numbering systems, access arrangements, and publication status.

How to Read the Original Korean Novel

The source work is 재혼 황후, a Korean web novel written by Alphatart.

Its official listing on Naver Series contains 337 episodes and marks the work as completed.

Read the original Korean novel on Naver Series.

This is the prose version. Rather than presenting the story through illustrated panels, it uses written narration and dialogue.

What do rental and purchase mean on Naver Series?

Korean serialized fiction platforms can organize access differently from English-language bookstores.

On Naver Series, you’ll encounter two useful terms:

  • 대여 (daeyeo) — rental or time-limited access.
  • 소장 (sojang) — purchasing access rather than renting for a limited period.

Naver Series uses a platform payment unit called Cookies (쿠키).

The current novel listing includes both rental and purchase options, but the price, free-reading offers, and access conditions should be checked on the platform itself.

Purchasing access to a digital episode isn’t the same thing as receiving a physical book or a downloadable file you can use without platform restrictions.

For readers unfamiliar with Korean web novels, this is an important part of the original publishing experience: a story may be offered as individually numbered digital episodes rather than conventional bookstore volumes.

The 337 episodes on Naver Series are written in Korean. Their existence doesn’t imply that an equivalent English prose edition is currently available there.

Where to Read the English WEBTOON

The official English comic is available on WEBTOON.

It credits three different creative roles:

SUMPULWebtoon artwork

This is the full-color comic adaptation, designed for vertical scrolling.

The English WEBTOON is marked Completed.

That means the series is no longer presented as an ongoing weekly serialization. It doesn’t necessarily mean every episode can be opened for free on the website.

WEBTOON may direct readers to its app for additional episodes or offer different unlocking arrangements.

If an episode isn’t available in your browser, check the official app and its current access options before looking elsewhere.

For English readers who want a confirmed authorized version without navigating Korean prose, the WEBTOON is the most straightforward choice.

Is the WEBTOON Finished, and Where Does the Spin-off Fit?

Main-webtoon completion and side-story reading routes checked: October 30, 2026.

The main English WEBTOON is completed. Its official listing now directs readers to the spin-off.

For later stories in English, open the separate The Remarried Empress: Spin-off series page or its official Episode 1. Begin with the completed main story first, then use that separate entry when you are ready to move on.

For Korean side stories, use the existing Naver WEBTOON listing. It now lists installments labeled 외전, dated October 29, after the main-story ending and afterword. The Korean page is in Daily+; it is not the same publication arrangement as the separate English series.

Check the relevant listing or app for the episodes you can currently open. The presence of an official first episode does not mean every later episode is free in a browser, or that the Korean and English episode numbers match.

Are the Ize Press Books Novels or Comics?

The Ize Press editions are comics, not prose novels.

This is the most important purchasing distinction in the guide.

The Remarried Empress began as a web novel, so a printed book with the same title can easily be mistaken for a novel translation.

But Ize Press, an imprint of Yen Press, publishes collected English editions of the illustrated WEBTOON.

Its official credits identify Alphatart as the original author, HereLee as the adapter, and SUMPUL as the artist. The English books also have lettering credits.

Browse the official Ize Press series catalog.

How many English volumes are available?

Print catalog and Volume 11 publication information checked: October 27, 2026.

Yen Press lists 11 volumes of The Remarried Empress.

Volumes 1 through 11 have now reached their publisher-listed release dates.

Yen Press gives Volume 11 a release date of October 20, 2026.

The publisher identifies Volume 11 as a 304-page paperback from Ize Press, with ISBN 9798400905957.

You can check the official Volume 11 product page for the current publication date.

That date has passed, but a publisher’s release date doesn’t guarantee stock at every retailer or in every country. Check the seller’s current availability before ordering.

And Volume 11 shouldn’t be assumed to be the final volume of the printed series merely because it’s the latest one listed.

Where should you begin with the books?

Start with Volume 1 at Yen Press.

Then follow the numbered English volumes in order.

The publisher’s listings can also help you identify the book format, ISBN, and available retailers.

If you’re buying a gift or shopping for yourself, check the format and ISBN, not just the title. This reduces the chance of buying a comic when you intended to purchase a prose novel.

Can You Read the Original Novel in English?

An authorized English prose version of The Remarried Empress was previously available through YONDER, a fiction-reading service operated by WEBTOON Entertainment.

However, YONDER ended service on July 31, 2025.

The service’s official app notice stated that the app and previously unlocked chapters would no longer be accessible after closure.

Read K-Comics Beat’s report documenting YONDER’s in-app shutdown notice.

That makes older recommendations pointing to YONDER outdated.

As of October 16, 2026, a currently accessible, licensed English prose edition could not be confirmed through the official Korean novel listing, the established English WEBTOON listing, or Yen Press’s comic catalog.

This is a statement about the verified sources, not proof that no other authorized English prose release exists anywhere.

If you find a retailer or reading site claiming to offer the English novel, check whether an identifiable publisher or rights holder confirms that edition.

An unofficial upload or an unfamiliar storefront using the work’s title isn’t enough to establish licensing.

And remember: the English WEBTOON and the Ize Press books are authorized comic editions, not substitutes for a prose translation in terms of format.

Why Don’t the Novel and WEBTOON Chapter Numbers Match?

The Korean novel, digital WEBTOON, and printed comic books have different numbering systems.

The Korean original is divided into serialized prose episodes.

The webtoon adapts the story into illustrated installments, with its own structure and pacing.

Ize Press then groups comic material into numbered physical volumes.

That means you shouldn’t assume:

  • Korean novel Episode 100 equals English WEBTOON Episode 100.
  • A webtoon season equals a certain number of printed volumes.
  • The latest published comic volume contains the ending of the completed digital WEBTOON.

These assumptions can cause problems when switching editions.

An adaptation can organize the original material differently, and a printed volume contains a collected portion of the comic rather than a fixed number of prose episodes.

Without a verified chapter-conversion chart, it’s better not to invent exact correspondences.

If you’re moving from the novel to the comic, or from a comic book to the digital WEBTOON, beginning at an earlier point—or at the start of that edition—is the safer option if you don’t want to miss details.

Which Edition Should You Choose?

The most useful question is what format you actually want.

For an English digital comic: Choose the official WEBTOON. It’s a confirmed English adaptation, and the series is marked completed.

For English printed comics: Start with Ize Press Volume 1 and follow the publisher’s volume order.

For the original Korean prose: Use Naver Series, where the 337-episode novel is listed.

For English prose: Confirm an active licensed edition before buying or subscribing. YONDER is no longer an available option, and the Ize Press books aren’t prose novels.

None of these recommendations is a judgment that the comic is better or worse than the novel.

They’re about helping you choose the language, format, and reading platform you intended to use.

Start with the Format That Fits You

If you want the simplest confirmed way to begin reading The Remarried Empress in English, open the official WEBTOON.

If you want a physical collection, check Ize Press’s English comic volumes.

And if you read Korean and want Alphatart’s original prose, Naver Series is the place to start.

You don’t need to compare every version before choosing one.

Just make sure you’re getting the story in the format you actually want—and through a source that has the rights to offer it.
