Yumi's Cells Watch Order: Seasons 1–3, Movie & Webtoon

By Published Updated

Spoiler level: Low. This guide covers the release order, official descriptions, and viewing options for Yumi’s Cells. Some distributor descriptions refer to later stages of Yumi’s life, but no major relationship outcomes or endings are revealed.

Information checked: October 18, 2026. Streaming availability, subscription requirements, and regional rights can change.

There’s a small complication when you try to watch Yumi’s Cells from the beginning.

It has three live-action drama seasons, a separate animated movie, and a completed Korean webtoon that started everything.

The movie came out between the second and third drama seasons. So should you watch it before Season 3? And does reading the webtoon mean you can skip part of the drama?

The simplest television watch order is Season 1 → Season 2 → Season 3.

If you’d also like to see the animated movie, the most sensible place to put it is after Season 2, following the order in which the productions were released.

The original webtoon is a separate starting point. You can read it before or after watching the drama.

Here’s how each version fits into the picture.

This is a viewing guide, not a claim that the producers have published one mandatory order covering every adaptation.

The movie is its own animated feature, not an extra numbered episode of Season 2 or the first episode of Season 3.

The dates and episode counts are supported by the official Viki, CJ ENM, and TVING listings.

For a first-time viewer who wants the television story without adding another format, watching the three numbered seasons in order is the straightforward choice.

For someone interested in every screen adaptation, the 2024 movie fits between Seasons 2 and 3 in release order.

Start With Yumi’s Cells Season 1 (2021)

Season 1 is the introduction to the television version of Yumi and the cells living inside her mind.

The drama stars Kim Go-eun as Yumi and combines live-action performances with animated cell characters.

Wondering whether the opening season suits your taste? My Yumi’s Cells Season 1 review weighs its warmth and cell humor alongside the relationship frustrations.

The season has 14 episodes.

It’s the best television starting point because it introduces how the adaptation tells two parts of Yumi’s experience at once: her everyday life and the thoughts and feelings represented by the cells.

You don’t need to read the original webtoon to understand the basic idea.

And you don’t need to watch the animated movie beforehand.

If you’re choosing a streaming service, start by checking the Yumi’s Cells Season 1 listing on Viki or the relevant local TVING catalog.

A platform’s listing does not guarantee that its episodes can be played in every country. Check the playback button, subtitles, and subscription requirements for your region.

Continue With Yumi’s Cells Season 2 (2022)

Season 2 is the next installment in the live-action drama.

Like the first season, it has 14 episodes.

CJ ENM’s official product listing identifies it as the second season of the series, while Viki maintains a separate Season 2 page.

That separate listing can be useful if a streaming app treats each season as its own title rather than grouping all three under one page.

Watch it after Season 1 to follow the television production’s intended season sequence.

You don’t need to switch to the webtoon or find an unofficial chapter-conversion chart before beginning Season 2.

The drama has its own episode structure.

If you want a licensed streaming listing, check Yumi’s Cells 2 on Viki.

Whether the listing is playable and whether English subtitles are available to you depend on your account and region.

Where Does Yumi’s Cells: The Movie Fit?

The animated movie was released in South Korea on April 3, 2024, after the first two television seasons and before Season 3.

It runs for 93 minutes.

Unlike the television drama, which combines actors with animated cells, Yumi’s Cells: The Movie is an animated feature directed by Kim Da-hee.

It’s also listed separately from the numbered television seasons.

Here’s the important detail for watch order: the official Apple TV film description places the movie’s story after the events of the second live-action season.

That makes after Season 2 a sensible viewing position.

But there’s a limit to what this establishes.

The description doesn’t turn the movie into an officially numbered Season 2.5, and it doesn’t establish that watching the film is mandatory before starting Season 3.

The film also focuses on a later stage of Yumi’s life, so a spoiler-conscious newcomer may prefer not to start with it.

If you’re following release order, use:

Season 1 → Season 2 → The Movie → Season 3.

If you’re watching only the TV drama, stay with the three numbered television seasons.

You can check the film through TVING’s official movie listing or Yumi’s Cells: The Movie on Viki.

The latter also lists subtitle options, although actual playback availability varies by country.

Can You Watch Season 3 Without the Movie?

The official television listings identify the 2026 production as Yumi’s Cells Season 3, not as a continuation numbered after a movie episode.

The film has its own title, director, format, and distribution listing.

The sources checked for this guide do not identify it as a required episode in the television season sequence.

So if your goal is to follow the live-action drama, the practical order remains:

Season 1 → Season 2 → Season 3.

That’s different from claiming that the film has no relationship to the wider story.

The film’s distributor description explicitly places it after the second season, and its subject matter comes from the same fictional property.

It’s better understood as an additional screen adaptation that can be included in a broader viewing journey, rather than a numbered television season.

If you decide to watch it, placing it after Season 2 avoids beginning with a story set later in Yumi’s life.

Finish the Television Route With Season 3 (2026)

Season 3 was released in 2026 and contains eight episodes.

That makes it shorter than either of the previous two 14-episode seasons.

Kim Go-eun returns as Yumi, with Kim Jae-won among the principal cast.

The official CJ ENM description places Yumi at a different stage of her working and personal life.

You don’t need those later story details to understand the viewing order.

The third television season comes after Season 2.

CJ announced that Season 3 would premiere through TVING on April 13, 2026, with international distribution partners covering selected territories.

For a current English-subtitled listing, you can check Yumi’s Cells 3 on Viki.

For the official production listing, see CJ ENM’s Season 3 page.

One small source distinction is worth knowing: some CJ metadata pages display a broader original release-date range beginning April 12, while CJ’s platform announcement specifies April 13 for the TVING premiere.

Those are different kinds of publication metadata. The platform premiere date is the appropriate reference when discussing the streaming launch.

Where Can International Viewers Watch the Three Seasons?

There isn’t one streaming platform you can safely recommend to every international reader.

The Korean platform is TVING, which has promoted access to all three seasons through its service.

Rakuten Viki also has separate official listings for Seasons 1, 2, and 3, with subtitle information displayed on those listings.

For Season 3’s original international launch, CJ announced distribution through HBO Max in 17 Asia-Pacific markets and Disney+ in Japan.

Later CJ reporting also discussed the program’s presence on Viki in international markets.

Those announcements establish distribution relationships, not identical global catalogs.

A service may have one season but not another in a particular country.

Even when you can open a title page, it doesn’t necessarily mean you can play every episode without a subscription or that the same subtitles are included for your account.

Before paying for a service, check the exact season, your country, the language options, and whether the episodes are currently playable.

Should You Read the Webtoon Before Watching?

You can, but you don’t have to.

The original Yumi’s Cells is the Korean webtoon by Donggeon Lee, published as 유미의 세포들.

It came before the television and movie adaptations.

The Korean comic has a completed 512-episode catalog, and the official English WEBTOON also identifies its edition as completed.

If you’re interested in the original visual storytelling, beginning with the webtoon makes sense.

If you prefer K-dramas, you can start with Season 1 and discover the source comic later.

The choice doesn’t require you to find a precise match between the webtoon’s chapter numbers and the television’s episode numbers.

They’re different publication formats.

The adaptation may organize its material differently, and a chapter number alone doesn’t prove that a particular event appears in a particular television episode.

Use the webtoon’s official first episode when starting the comic. Use the first television season when starting the drama.

The Yumi’s Cells Webtoon vs. K-Drama Comparison explains how the original drawn cells were developed into animated screen characters without relying on an unverified scene-by-scene conversion chart.

Why Is the Movie Separate From the Drama?

This is where the Korean titles can help.

The television series uses the title 유미의 세포들, followed by a numbered 시즌 (season) when appropriate.

The film’s Korean title is 유미의 세포들 더 무비, using The Movie as part of its title.

It is listed as a feature film, not as another TV episode.

The different production format also matters.

The drama presents Yumi through Kim Go-eun’s live-action performance while showing her cells through animation.

The film presents the story as an animated feature, with a separate cast of voice performers.

Neither format should be confused with the original digital webtoon or the later Korean prose adaptation mentioned in the Yumi’s Cells Hub.

All of these belong to the same property, but they’re not interchangeable catalog entries.

The clearest way to organize them is by medium first, then season or release order.

Three Practical Ways to Start Yumi’s Cells

If you only want the K-drama:

Watch Season 1, then Season 2, then Season 3.

This keeps the television story in its numbered order without requiring another format.

If you want all the screen adaptations:

Watch Season 1, Season 2, the 2024 animated movie, and then Season 3.

This follows the screen productions’ release chronology and places the movie after the second season, as its distributor description suggests.

If you want the original creator’s work first:

Begin with the English WEBTOON. You can explore the drama and animated film afterward.

There is no requirement to alternate between comic chapters and TV episodes.

The best route depends on whether you want a television story, a broader collection of screen adaptations, or Donggeon Lee’s original comic.

The important thing is to avoid treating the movie as a numbered drama episode or the webtoon’s episode count as a conversion chart for the television seasons.
