Seasons of Blossom Webtoon vs. K-Drama: What Actually Changed?
Finished the 2022 Seasons of Blossom drama and wondering where that leaves you in the webtoon? The drama combines the first two seasonal stories; it doesn’t cover the complete four-arc original.
HONGDUCK and NEMONE’s webtoon gives each season its own central focus. The drama brings Bomi’s spring and Hamin’s summer material into an interwoven past-and-present story. I’d look at that change in structure before trying to match individual scenes.
This comparison covers the 2022 Wavve live-action drama. For the sequel and the full webtoon sequence, use the reading-order guide.
Spoiler level: Mild premise spoilers, including the tragedy named in the drama’s promotional synopsis, its dual timeline, and character relationships. No final outcomes are revealed.
Content note: Suicide-related themes, grief, and emotional distress. Later parts of the original webtoon also address bullying.

The Korean publisher Jaedam’s description of the sixth collected volume confirms that the drama combines the webtoon’s first two connected seasonal stories.
The official English WEBTOON listing identifies the original creators and marks the comic as completed. Viki’s drama listing identifies the 2022 adaptation as a 16-episode series.
Difference 1: The Drama Adapts Two of the Webtoon’s Four Arcs
The webtoon moves through Bomi’s spring, Hamin’s summer, Gaeul’s autumn, and Dongchae’s winter. The changing central characters remain connected to people introduced earlier.
As Jaedam’s volume-six description confirms, the drama joins the first two parts. Autumn and winter belong to the larger original beyond that adaptation’s selected scope.
So finishing the 16 drama episodes gives you a version of spring and summer, rather than the complete comic in another format.
Difference 2: The Drama Weaves Spring and Summer Into One Dual-Timeline Story
One drama storyline follows Lee Hamin and Han Somang six years in the past; the other follows present-day students including Lee Jaemin, Yoon Bomi, and Choi Jinyoung. The 2022 promotional introduction reported by Soompi sets out that structure.
The distinction is how the material is arranged. The webtoon also uses memory and connections across time, so the drama didn’t invent the influence of the past. It packages selected material as interwoven timelines instead of following the original’s separate seasonal sections.
For me, that’s the useful comparison: how a version introduces a relationship can matter as much as whether it includes it.
Difference 3: Hamin, Somang, and the Weight of the Past Come Forward
Bomi’s opening school romance and Hamin’s summer story have different emotional registers. The publisher’s summer-arc introduction describes Somang and Hamin’s relationship alongside the grief of those left behind after Hamin’s death.
By joining that material with the present-day students’ lives, the drama places romance beside the consequences of an earlier tragedy. Hamin and Somang’s relationship helps connect the two periods, rather than sitting beside Bomi’s story as an unrelated romance.
That combination is useful to know before choosing the drama for a consistently light watch.
Difference 4: Lee Jaemin Was Reworked for the Combined Adaptation
In a September 2022 cast interview, Kim Min Kyu explained that combining two webtoon parts changed characters’ attitudes and relationships. He identified Lee Jaemin as especially affected and discussed working through the role with the director.
That supports a character-level change, but it isn’t a scene-by-scene list of alterations. I’d use it to understand why a familiar name can occupy a different dramatic context, rather than assume every detail remained the same.
Difference 5: Bomi and Jinyoung’s Romance Shares the Screen With a Heavier Story
The drama retains Bomi and Jinyoung’s school-romance thread. Its promotional description introduces Bomi’s fake relationship with Jinyoung as an attempt to protect her friendship with Sunhee.
That premise comes from the original spring story; it isn’t a romance invented for television. The adaptation difference is its placement alongside the summer material, giving the drama contrasting threads of teenage uncertainty and painful memory.
A Korean Detail: Why Somang Returns as a Student Teacher
Somang returns to her former school as a student teacher, as described in the production’s Korean press coverage.
The term 교생 (gyosaeng) commonly refers to a student completing practical teacher training. Students may respectfully call that person a teacher without their being a permanently appointed member of the faculty.
That role lets the school be both a place carrying Somang’s memories and a present-day setting for the younger characters. This is context for her role, rather than a claim that teacher training was added only in the drama.
What the Drama Doesn’t Replace
The original’s autumn and winter arcs, ending, and epilogue remain part of the webtoon route. Seasons of Lovesome is a separate sequel, while 청춘 블라썸: 우리의 봄 is a later animated adaptation.
Neither title names extra installments of the 2022 drama. The reading-order guide separates those routes if the different versions are getting tangled together.
Should You Watch the K-Drama or Read the Webtoon First?
Choose the webtoon for the complete four-season structure and original sequence of relationships. I’d also take that route before moving to Seasons of Lovesome.
Choose the 2022 drama if you’d prefer performances and a more concentrated live-action story combining school romance with grief across two timelines.
Already watched it? Begin the comic with Bomi’s opening instead of trying to guess a matching chapter. The adaptation’s combined structure and character changes make an episode-to-chapter shortcut unreliable.
If your main question is how the original feels to read, my webtoon review covers its artwork, emotional range, and changing protagonists.
